All New News and More

wow cataclysm logo All New News and More •    Official Cataclysm Forums Open - The official WoW forums had another section added to them last week, one dedicated to the upcoming expansion. There are already a lot of great discussions going on in this new section, but not a lot of additional firm details from anyone at Blizzard just yet. This will, however, we will likely see bits of information leaked and hinted at over the course of the coming months. You should go on over and check it out.

•    Paid Faction Changes Now Live - Well, this past weeks we’ve seen some pretty significant WoW-related news, but none quite as significant as this piece! The faction change service for WoW is now available! Yep, that’s right, players will now be able to switch their characters from Horde to Alliance or vice versa. In addition to this it seems you can change other things about your character in the process including name and gender, so you get more bang for your 30 bucks. So, if you’re interested in this new paid service you can visit your account management page and take advantage of it, but please be sure to read the FAQ first as there are some mount and reputation restrictions you will want to be aware of before making the big switch!

•    Race Changes Confirmed – The possibility of changing your character’s race within it’s existing faction was eluded to during BlizzCon and seemed to be a definite per their own FAQ about paid faction changes. Now, it has been confirmed by Blizzard poster, Neth in an official forum thread that the ability to change your character’s race will be arriving soon. With the talk of racial abilities being re-vamped for the new expansion most race changes will likely happen to get better racials for your character’s class from a different race. We will see how this one goes, but with paid faction changes already in place this one doesn’t surprise me at all. Can anyone say mo money?

•    For the Horde Gets a World First - The heroic versions of Trial of the Crusader went live some weeks ago and it took no time at all for some top guilds to venture into the more challenging versions of the raid encounter. Very soon after these encounters went live European guild For the Horde claimed the world first A Tribute to Insanity-10 which is a no wipe full clear of the instance on 10 man mode. According to their website they weren’t even trying for the achievement until they had made it all the way to Anub’arak with no wipes and then decided to go for it. Congrats to For the Horde! Catacylysm Patch: Information and Expansion

The game World of Wacraft never failed to expand and surprise its gamers. With exciting new updates and patches that keeps us anticipating for more. Just recently, Blizzard had announced their newest game expansion called Catacylysm alongside the Patch 3.3 news and stuffs.

cataclysm1 Catacylysm Patch: Information and Expansion

* Next WoW Expansion Officially Announced – As we all know by now, Blizzard announced that the next expansion pack for WoW, to be named Cataclysm and it’s scheduled to be released sometime in 2010! Not only did they officially confirm it’s arrival but they also confirmed much of the speculation and rumors that were floating around in cyberspace a week or so ago. We will see the Goblins align with the Horde and the Worgen with the Alliance, we will see new race/class combos, the level cap will increase to 85 and will be reached in large part by following the Path of the Titans, Classic Azeroth will see a near complete re-vamp breathing new life into the leveling process (even from 1-60) and allowing flight in these areas will also streamline things quite a bit, they will be re-vamping some of the classic dungeons (Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep are on the list) and adding new ones with heroic modes and awesome loot, we will also see the addition of a new guild leveling and achievement system, rated battlegrounds and a new profession (Archeology) with some pretty awesome character benefits. I know it’s so much to take in! If you still haven’t seen the trailer I suggest you take a look at our earlier cataclysm news post.

* The BlizzCon ’09 Goody Bag - The lucky attendees at the annual Blizzard Convention always receive a cool swag bag packed with some pretty fabulous goodies. Although this year’s bag seemed a little lighter than last year’s there were still some great things included: A special edition Blizzard authenticator, a two for one admission pass to the WoW Emergent Media Phenomenon at the Laguna Art Museum, a coupon to pick up an official BlizzCon ’09 program at the convention, a coupon for up to 40% off the WoW Stein Collection, an exclusive Raynor collectible from the all new nOObz collection Blizzard has started, hand sanitizer (because gamers are dirty people), and of course everyone’s favorite little Murloc…Grunty the Murloc Marine was hiding out in the bag too. Well actually it was just the card with the code on it…I think if a Murloc actually crawled out of the bag there would have been a bit more than the usual BlizzCon mayhem!

* Cataclysm’s New Starter Zones – With new races must come new starting zones. While there was not a ton of information available on these zones we do have some for you. The Goblins will start on the island of Kezan and will phase in and out a lot while the Cataclysm is ripping the island apart, they will then board ships and face some hostile fire between Horde and Alliance before landing off the coast of the Lost Isles. The Worgen will start in Gilneas and will initially be chained up until they drink a potion to turn them “human” again, then they will embark on a quest chain which like the goblin starting questline will take them through about level 15 before it is time to move on.

The Newest Catacylsym Guide

Where do I even start to tell just how wonderful this update will be to my fellow gamers and WoW enthusiasts. Together let us discover and uncover what this Cataclysm patch will do to our gaming experience.

The Lore: (quote from the official lore of World of Warcraft)

An ancient evil lies dormant within Deepholm, the domain of earth in the Elemental Plane. Hidden away in a secluded sanctuary, the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing has waited, recovering from the wounds of his last battle against Azeroth and biding his time until he can reforge the world in molten fire.

Soon, Deathwing the Destroyer will return to Azeroth, and his eruption from Deepholm will sunder the world, leaving a festering wound across the continents. As the Horde and Alliance race to the epicenter of the cataclysm, the kingdoms of Azeroth will witness seismic shifts in power, the kindling of a war of the elements, and the emergence of unlikely heroes who will rise up to protect their scarred and broken world from utter devastation.

Two new races: Goblin and Worgens

With the latest WoW Cataclysm expansion, players can now access two new playable races: the Worgen race from the Alliance and the resourceful Goblins from the Horde.

Level cap upped to 85

Level 80’s are a thing of the past now. Level 85 is the new level cap for this expansion, as players explore 5 breathtaking yet dangerous new zones to unlock new skills, abilities and talents. Venture into the underwater depths of the forever sunken city of Vashj’ir, which rests in the Abyssal Maw Vortex. The more experienced players will find themselves far below the stretches of daylight immersed within the Elemental Plane of Earth, Deepholm, before taking the risk of losing their lives to explore the mysteries locked away in Uldum.

New Race and Class Combo

WoW Cataclysm introduces players to new combinations of existing character classes including Gnome Priests, Troll and Worgen Druids, and the most awaited Tauren Paladins.

Blizzard has definitely gone up the rankings when it comes to MMORPG’s by constantly redefining World of Warcraft. With Blizzcon still going on, Blizzard will still be announcing future changes and coming patch notes within the coming weeks or even days, making the players anticipate even more.

Stay tuned to this guide, as we bring you the updated news straight from Blizzard.
