Most folks who play World of warcraft know that dungeon leveling is the quickest way to level, but not everyone understands the very best way to get the most out of the dungeon finder system.  You’ve got to have a dungeon method in order to make the most out of every single run, and it doesn’t hurt to possess a leveling guide to help you, either.

The very best way to generate your own World of Warcraft dungeon approach is to get a complete knowledge of the system, how it performs, and why dungeon leveling is the quickest way to go.  Instance leveling fundamentally entails leveling your character by running chains of dungeons with other players.  It’s now less complicated than ever to do it, because of the dungeon finder tool which was an aspect of patch 3.3 of the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion.  The dungeon finder permits you to party with players from various servers, even if you are on a low population server or during your server’s off times.

Developing your dungeon method is dependent at least partly on which kind of class you are playing.  The damage classes (DPS)  will generally  need to wait in line (the queue) much longer than healing and tanking classes, so it’s absolutely worth it to solo quest even though you’re waiting for your dungeon group to form.  Tanks, on the other hand, may be able to just hang around and easily walk in and out of dungeons all day long due to the fact there are far fewer tanks than there are DPS classes, and the wait time is far less (and is sometimes zero.)  Healers are additionally in elevated demand, though generally not quite as much as tanks. Their queue times will also be much shorter than that of DPS classes

As a damage dealer (DPS) your job is merely to lay down the damage on the opposition (mobs) being assaulted by your group. You want to be mindful of harmful effects dropped by the mobs and stay out of them, and you want to be mindful of when the adversary leaves the tank to come for you. Having a method to drop aggro, such as the Hunter’s “Feign Death,” will come in handy here.

As a healer your main job is to concentrate on the tank, but, particularly in the high level dungeons, there is a lot of added damage being thrown about and some tanks have problems keeping the attention of all the mobs. That suggests that your DPS will be receiving damage, too, even if they do know how to stay out of the fire.

As a tank your job is to maintain 100% of the opposition’s attention at all times, in particular if it’s the boss. If the mobs lay down piles of corrosive glop then you need to drag the mobs away from that location. If the leader shoots out area effect blasts then you should make sure the mob is facing away from the group. You should also do anything it is possible  to boost your damage mitigation and avoidance, that will make your healer’s job simpler.

Don’t Forget Your Dungeon Quests

Prior to the Cataclysm release you would grab the dungeon quests in your normal questing and with some stops to the big city. The way it works now is significantly simpler. As soon as you enter the dungeon you should discover the mission givers waiting around to talk to you and give you your jobs. Even in the Cataclysm dungeons.

Instance leveling is a good way to carry your character from level 1 to 85 with considerably less time and effort than it took in the beginning days of WoW.  You’ll find yourself hopping from dungeon to dungeon and level to level with ease.

The  WoW Cataclysm expansion launched on Dec 7th, 2010, but though the changes discussed here truly started about a month earler I’ll just refer to them as Cataclysm changes, or WoW version 4. The most apparent change, of course, is the destruction and rebuilding of the two main continents Kalimdor and The Eastern Kingdons, of Azeroth.

Although some WoW Guides will include details, like leveling specs, raiding builds, professions, and the particulars of the Cataclysmic changes, the major class changes to be aware of are covered in this article.

The “new world” of the Outlands is totally untouched, which is reasonable since it truly is a different world. Northrend is also pretty much untouched, as well. Possibly the dragon Deathwing didn’t sense it was really worth his time to remake Northrend as well as Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. That means that characters returning back again to the game should discover a fully revised leveling experience up to level 60, then go through familiar territory to 80, and then the new Cataclysm zones until 85.

First off, there are the two new races: Worgans (Alliance) and Goblins (Horde.) Each of these races, like the Death Knights, possess instanced starting areas. What this  means is that when you start as a Goblin or Worgen you can be interacting with the tale that delivers these people, and your character, into the principal game world. The worlds in these regions alter as you interact with them and they do so in a very cool manner. It’s straightforward to think that you are affecting the story.

The talent system has been completely overhauled. Previously you would get a total of 71 talent points at level 80, and be able to mix and match those points between the 3 talent trees (specializations or “specs”) of your character’s class. With WoW 4 you can no longer do that. At level 10 you pick your spec, just as before, but now you are locked into that spec till you have spent 31 points there, which works out to level 69. After that point you can commit points in the one or the other of the remaining specs. You could only have a total of 41 points to invest at level 85 (the new level cap) so the most points you will be able to put in one of these secondary specializations is ten. As an example, if you pick “Retribution” for your Paladin spec, you have to invest at least 31 points in Retribution first, and can then shell out the following ten points in any combination of Retribution, Holy, or Protection.

In addition to the points change and becoming locked into a spec at level 10, every single spec of every type gets distinctive skills and a “Mastery” ability (trainable at level 80.) Every set of these new talents has some main capability, like the Rogue’s “Shadowstep,” that’s usable immediately, and at least one standard ability along the lines of “Your heals do 10% over those of the various Paladin specs” or “20% more harm while dual weilding…”

The Mastery ability boosts some class’s defining ability. So a Subtlety Rogue is an ambushing “burst damage” kind of character and their mastery helps the damage of their “finishing strikes.” A Balance Druid (of “Laser Turkey” fame) gets bonus damage from their “Eclipse” ability although a Feral Druid gets more bleed damage from their claw strikes.

Naturally the various class abilities have been relocated around or been changed and a few new ones have been added. Some abilities are now available at a much reduced level than before, while others are at a higher level. Additionally, abilites no longer possess ranks. Once you choose any class ability it will scale in worth with your level, instead of you having to buy 10 versions of the same thing. On that point, weapon abilities, and abilities like Lockpicking, are handled the same way. You no longer have to level up these abilities, you either automatically get them, or you train them, and their ability level will always be at the max allowed for your character level. Choose a new weapon, that’s permitted by your class, and you can use it at full value immediately.

In addition the the changes mentioned above, some classes, such as Hunters and Paladins, got revised class mechanics. Hunters no longer use mana, their new resource is “Focus,” and while Paladin still use mana, they now have an additional “Holy Power” system to play with. But that’s a whole ‘nother article.

Is buying Cataclysm really worth it?

I don’t really know what I’m going to benefit by buying Cataclysm. Other than levels 81-85, Archeology, Flying in Azeroth, and fighting Deathwing.. Is there anything else? I mean I don’t see what the rush is to buy it if that’s all I’m going to get from it. The shattering already happened for free, new quest lines, dungeon maps, etc. Anything I’m missing? Do you think it really is worth it? And if so collectors or regular?
